Joe Cadeau 3

Born to a large family in a small town near Georgian Bay, I still remember the excitement of visiting Toronto as a child. These rare experiences sparked a lasting love of the city and inspired me to move to Toronto before I turned 18. Since that first move, I've lived in many neighbourhoods, from New Toronto (now Etobicoke) to Jane and Eglinton, to Kennedy and Lawrence, to Donlands and Cosburn (East York), to Yonge and Sheppard (North York). My wife and I moved to Scarborough when we were newly married and starting our family, and later on to the suburbs when we had more kids than could fit in our bungalow's few rooms.

One of my first supervisory roles was managing the distribution of newspapers for the Toronto Star around the Moss Park, Regent Park, St. Jamestown and Cabbagetown neighbourhoods - and nearly 50 years later, I found myself returning to the same area I started in.

My career started in sales-selling lottery tickets for the Ontario Lottery Corporation-and led to managing carriers for The Star, and eventually I served as the Vice President for Konica Minolta, where I oversaw Canada's national dealership program. Throughout my career I have built strong and productive relationships, led diverse teams, and delivered results for those depending on me. I've conducted myself with integrity and followed my ethical principles.

At the age of 55, I returned to school and received my MBA from Athabasca University, followed by my Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution from York University. I've taken the knowledge gained, combined with my professional experience, and spent the last years applying my abilities to build relationships, find consensus, and identify & implement solutions in support of our local community organizations. My volunteer and community work around housing, food insecurity, public safety, and shelter concerns has provided me with first-hand knowledge about what we are doing well, what we're failing to address, and where we can do better. It is my focus to improve the day-to-day life for all Ward 13 residents through supporting practical solutions to our local challenges.
